This page contains a variety of motion graphic works I have created in the past year; they consist of different approaches, styles, and themes.
Personal Interstitial
As a creative professional, there are many ways one can choose to promote oneself. In the early stages of trying my hand at a new skill, motion graphics, I attempted to create a personal interstitial that represents and promotes me as an artist and graphic designer. It's not my best work, but was a step that launched my pursuit to improve my skills in motion graphics while unraveling its potential as a skill and art form that is very much booming in contemporary graphic design.
“Everyone Can Cook: 7 Meal Ideas”
Every living being must eat in one way or another in order to stay alive. This PSA or nudge of encouragement acts as a brief resource of inspiration to individuals who believe they are not creative enough to put tasty and somewhat healthy meals together in an affordable way. The video presents 7 lists of ingredients to put together 7 different meals. It is not meant to describe how to put the meals together, that is up to the viewer that attempts to cook these meals; however, figuring out what to cook is usually the part that discourages people who don't feel inclined to putting meals together (other than various other variables, of course). This indecisiveness of what to cook can sometimes lead to eating unhealthy options for the sake of not cooking.
I love cooking and I hope others will eventually enjoy it too: the process or even the reward that comes with the final result produced by you. Cooking can be difficult to do depending on the meal and ingredients, but does not always have to be. It can be simple, affordable, and healthy.
Two-Part Plaster Mold Tutorial
This is a brief tutorial on how to make a plaster mold. Plaster molds are used to potentially mass produce the exact impression of the object(s) being cast to the plaster. Molds made of plaster are usually used for ceramic or metal sculptural works.
“Speaking to me is a Privilege”
Audio Credit + Context: The audio clip from this video is from the TV show Scandal, which takes place when Olivia Pope confronts her father, Eli, about her newly found authority over him while he is on a sort of 'probation' for his wrong-doings.
In this kinetic type motion graphic, the type is subtly personified to fit the tone of the scene typographically depicted.
2nd Hand Future
2nd Hand Future (2HF) is an online fashion initiative/campaign showcasing exclusively thrifted and reused clothes and accessories while presenting them in a way consumers are accustomed to. 2HF produces content promoting fashion sustainability, raising awareness about the negative environmental impact fast fashion has, and how thrifting and buying 2nd hand clothing can help improve our planet. This project is a collaboration between graphic designers Morgan Kilby, Lais Parra Borges, and myself (Monique Rivera).
Below are motion graphic animations I created using the 2HF logos designed by my teammates Morgan and Lais.
This is a title page animation is for a topic post and tutorial about repurposing fabric items such as old clothing to make one's own 'reusable' bags (tote bags) to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of plastic bags at the grocery store. By offering an alternative to plastic or paper bags, the repurposing of clothing or other fabric items reduces the wasteful nature of fast fashion; thus, helping the environment.
