A satirical commentary on the harms caused by rubber bath toys — these toys look innocent and harmless (and start out that way) but evolve to become a safety hazard for little ones.

The rubber ducky is one of the most recognized icons of all rubber bath toys which is why this project uses it as a motif. Further, it was one, if not the first, rubber toys that existed specifically to be designed with a waterproof rubber material for the bath time of children. As far as my research goes, the bacteria, fungi and microbes found in the inside of rubber bath toys are not highly dangerous, but they are something about which to be aware and concerned as it pertains to the health of young kids.

Yucky Ducky is one of my current bodies of work. As I continue producing works for this project, my research also continues regarding the history and health hazards and concerns that relate to rubber bath toys.
